There are large number of hotels and lodges with state governments across the country but quality of service was poor in most of them, leading to dissatisfaction among both domestic and international tourists.
To help state governments improve service at, and returns from, these assets, Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Association of India (FHRAI), the apex body of hospitality industry, is conducting a study which will spell out broad guidelines for privatisation.
Shyam Suri, secretary general of FHRAI, said the association has entrusted global consultancy firm Deloitte Touche for the study.
