The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned sine die today, four days before scheduled.

The government put the blame of the early termination of the session on the BJP's disruption of both Houses over demand for setting up a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to look into the Indo-US civil nuclear agreement.

Today also, both Houses, which convened at 11am, were adjourned to noon. At noon, the Houses were adjourned till 4 pm and then till 5 pm, before being adjourned sine die.

In all the din, the government got cleared several important business. These included the competition commission Bill, the Bill for use of pictorial warning on tobacco products, and railways' demand for grants.

A Bill to look into the social security concerns of the unorganised sector was introduced in the Rajya Sabha and referred to a standing committee.

Even as 41 hours were lost in the Lok Sabha and 42 in the Rajya Sabha due to disruptions, the government managed to get passed as many as 11 Bills.

A total of 16 Bills were introduced during the session, said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunshi.
