A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed here by the university registrar, Y Narsimhulu, and G V Prasad, the director of Institute of Life Sciences yesterday. |
Kota Harinarayana, the university vice-chancellor, B P Acharya, the secretary (industries & commerce), A Venkaeswarlu, a member of the State Biotech Advisory Board, G Subramanyam, the project director of Life Sciences Institute, and the faculty members of the university were present on the occasion. |
Harinarayana stated in a press release that the institute would provide the ideal platform for industry-academia partnership. |
He also mentioned about the proposal to set up a science incubator and science park at the university for research in the new frontiers of sciences such as nano technology, biomedical engineering etc. |
Prasad observed that major pharma and biotech companies could get actively involved in this initiative, which would emulate the world-class models like John Hopkins Institute and Scripps Institute in the US. |
BP Acharya assured all help from the state government for the initiative which, he said, would put Hyderabad on the world map of life sciences research. |
