The Indian Airlines board today cleared the proposal to acquire a fleet of 43 Airbus aircraft at a cost of Rs 10,089 crore to meet its traffic requirements in the five year period beginning 2003-04.
The board also approved the budget estimates for the next financial year when losses are expected to come down substantially to Rs 98.90 crore as against the estimate of Rs 250.65 crore during the current financial year. The airline had originally estimated losses of Rs 251.50 crore for the current financial year, a company release said.
During the current financial year, the airlines
