The Rs 149.71 crore Kalol expansion project of the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (Iffco) was dedicated to the nation here on Saturday by home minister L K Advani. As a result of the expansion, the capacity of the ammonia plant has increased by 21 per cent from 910 tonnes per day (tpd) to 1,100 tpd while urea production has gone up by 37 per cent from 1,200 tpd to 1,650 tpd.
The project with March 1, 1995 as zero date, has been completed on schedule. He said Gujarat had given the cooperative movement to India which had resulted in development of cooperatives like Amul Kribhco.
