The academic session of the Institute of Interior and Fashion Technology (IIFT), Bhubaneswar would commence from August this year.
IIFT-Bhubaneswar would have a total intake of 90 students and it would offer diploma as well as advance diploma courses in Fashion Design, Interior Design and Textile Design.
IIFT-Bhubaneswar has been set up at the IDCO Tower 2000 at the Mancheswar Industrial area in the city.
Students seeking admission to the institute can choose between the one-year diploma course and two-year advanced diploma programme. The course fee for all these programmes would be Rs 60,000 per year.
Addressing media persons here, SK Mohanty, chief executive officer of IIFT-Bhubaneswar said, “Six students have already been enrolled at IIFT-Bhubaneswar and the institute’s academic session would start from August this year. The admission for the inaugural session would be on the basis of academic performance of the students who have completed 10+2.”
At present, IIFT-Bhubaneswar is an autonomous institute but we are in negotiations with two universities in Orissa to get the affiliation, he added.

Amiya R Pattnaik, director, IIFT-Bhubaneswar said, the institute will offer infrastructure comparable to the best fashion institutes in the country.
The focus of IIFT-Bhubaneswar’s curriculum is the practical experience which would be provided to the students through site and industrial visits and projects for hands-on experience.
The other features of IIFT’s curriculum include guest lectures by industry experts and use of multi-media to enhance course delivery.
IIFT was set up at Jamshedpur in 2003. The institute’s Jamshdepur campus has an intake of 130 students.
