Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management, Shillong, which began operations in July 2008, has successfully placed its first batch of 63 students.
In its first academic year of operations, the institute registered the highest international offer of Rs 33 lakh per annum and the highest domestic offer of Rs 18 lakh per annum. Average salary was Rs 9.8 lakh per annum.
“Despite being the youngest IIM, with teething problems of logistics and infrastructure, our students have got good offers and the institute is happy about it,” said a professor from the institute. The students bagged four offers from Indonesia, Singapore and Dubai in marketing, retail and international operations. Companies which recruited from the campus were HSBC Bank, Central Bank of India, Infosys Technologies, Tata Motors, Escorts, Essar Group, Gati Logistics, SBI Caps, Power Finance Corporation, Bank of Baroda, Deloitte and Adani Group.
