The state industries department currently has approached leading industrialists including Gautam Adani, CMD of Adani group, Pankaj Patel, CMD Cadila Healthcare, Shashi Ruia of Essar group, Piruz Khambatta of Rasna group just to name a few to lead the delegations.

“The idea is that instead of government officials talking about Gujarat, industrialists who have business interests in the state should talk about their experiences to the outside world. A businessman in any part of the world would believe another businessman more than anybody else,” said a senior government official.

According to him, whether chief minister Narendra Modi or senior ministers will join the delegations is yet to be finalised.

The state had successufully sent several business delegations in the run up to the previous global investors’ summit.

“The experiment was hugely successful if one considers the number of MoUs signed during the previous summit. We want to stick to our winning ways,” he says.

The teams will apprise the world business community of the new policy initiatives and the business environment prevailing in the state.
