India currently has a contract to buy 7.5 million tonne of LNG annually, which it wants to be raised to 17.5 million tonne, officials said after Qatar Finance Minister called on Petroleum Minister Murli Deora.
Officials said Qatar Investment Agency is evaluating picking up the $100 million FCCB of Petronet LNG that will give the Qatari company between 7.5-12.5% stake.
Petronet and Qatar Investment Agency will also bid for Dabhol power project's hived-off LNG terminal, the officials said.
