India, one of the first countries to send relief supplies to Myanmar after cyclone Nargis hit Yangoon, has so far sent two ships of the Indian navy and five IAF planes with supplies of medicines, tents, roofing materials and food.
According to officials, External affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee called up his Myanmarese counterpart U Nyan Win today to ask him as to what help India could offer to the cyclone-affected country.
While Win was grateful for India's prompt response to Myanmar's humanitarian crisis, Mukherjee told him that "India was ready to assist Myanmar in all ways, both the relief and rehabilitation efforts".
