The recent spate of attacks on Indian students in Australia has impacted the outflow of immigrants from India to Australia.
BS Sandhu, CMD of World Wide Immigration Consultancy Services (WWICS), which provides resettlement solutions to people in places like Canada, Australia and New Zealand, maintained the attacks on Indian students in Australia had triggered the downslide of Indian immigrants to Australia. According to Sandhu, 25-30 per cent decline had been registered in number of Indian immigrants to Australia, as a consequence of incidents that occurred there.
Discussing the impact of change in Priority Occupation List (POL) of Canada which is likely to be revised by May 1, 2010, Sandhu said aspirants of Canadian immigration should immediately move their papers as occupations presently enlisted in the POL may not find place in the revised list.
The Canada government is in process to reconsider 38 occupations in POL. “If an application is filed before May 1, 2010, it would be processed as per the present list and not the revised one,” he said.
The present POL consists of teaching professionals, managers in financial, computer and information systems, health care, restaurant and food service, accommodation service and construction. These also include financial auditors and accountants, geologists, geochemists and engineers, physicians, audiologists and speech, language pathologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and nurses.
Besides going through the POL list, Canada also offers permanent residency through investment, especially for business people under Canadian Federal Investor Program.
