Making a suo motu statement in the Assembly, she said that following difficulties faced in this regard, issuing of such licences would henceforth be issued through a web portal, which would have information on government services, among others.
This portal would help industrialists and the general public know the various government schemes, she said, adding the portal would be developed at a cost of Rs 2.24 crore.

It is mandatory for an industry to register and get a licence from the state government under the Industries Act, 1948 and there are over 42,000 industries registered with the government of Tamil Nadu.
The Chief Minister also announced that five district employment exchanges in Kanchipuram, Villupuram, Tiruvarur, Tiruvallur and Dharmapuri would get their own buildings, and would be constructed at a cost of Rs 1.65 crore each during 2014-15.
