Industrialists urged to focus on domestic market

Kerala's industries minister Elamaram Kareem has called upon industrialists to focus more on the domestic market than exports in order to achieve better growth. This would also ensure social progress in a more equitable manner.

Speaking at the Dhanam business magazine's business summit and award nite held here, he said government intervention was inevitable along with allowing free enterprise on the industrial front.

Presenting the Dhanam Businessman of the year award to Kochouseph Cittilappilly, managing director of V-Guard group, Kris Gopalakrishnan, CEO and managing director of Infosys, said building a respectable team was of paramount importance for the success of a business organisation.

Citing Infosys' example, he said the team members should have mutual respect and collective will so as to scale greater heights.

"Then only the institution will grow beyond the conceptions of its founders," he added.

On the Infosys campus at Thiruvananthpuram, he said work was fast progressing and the first building was expected to be ready by June this year.
