The managing director of the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company (CESC) has promised industries in Mysore that regular power supply could be expected from tomorrow.
Mysore has been facing steep power shutdowns for the last four days. The power is hardly suppled for 5-6 hours during the day and the power cuts last till late in the evening, affecting all sections of the consumers, particu-larly high-tension consu-mers like industrial units and businesses.
A three-member team of the Mysore Industries Association (MIA) met CESC managing director Ramesh today and represented the industry woes owing to the unscheduled power shutdowns.
“CESC has agreed to supply power to all indust-rial feeders in Hootagalli, Belavadi, Hebbal and Metag-alli areas from 9 am to 6 pm and 10 pm to 6 am from tomorrow up to October 31,” MIA general secretary Suresh Kumar Jain said.
CESC’s prolonged power shutdown has come without any warning to consumers. The reason for the power shutdowns has been attributed to the cut in the quantum of power supply to Mysore as power production has been affected at the Raichur Thermal Power Station. Supply and shutdown alternatives in Mysore are therefore expected to last till power production increases at Raichur when it is set right.
Power is supplied for a brief while, followed by shutdown lasting two to two and half hours continuously and alternatively.
