In order to make land allotment easier for industrial houses, the Madhya Pradesh government on Tuesday altered its land allotment policy.
Department of industries and its subsidiaries like Audyogik Kendra Vikas Nigam (AKVNs) have been authorised to directly allot land to industrial investors.
Similarly, the energy department has been authorised to allot land to investors interested in setting up power plants. However, the district collector will channelise the demand of the department of industries and its arms, to the revenue department, after making an assessment.
“This would ease the pressure on the revenue department and also make the process simpler and less time-consuming for industrial investors. Those interested in investing in tourism, non-conventional energy projects and horticulture, may also directly demand land from the department concerned,” a government spokesperson said adding a notification will soon come into effect to implement this decision.
The industrial areas in the state like Dewas, Pithampur, Mandideep are facing shortage of land. In the absence of a proper policy, middlemen acquire land and sell it at a premium to needy investors. Many investors could not set up new units and skipped expansion plans due to shortage of land in various industrial areas and growth centres.
“A policy will soon come to withdraw allotment if a non-serious investor acquires land,” the spokesperson clarified.
