Inflation dropped to about two-year low of 4.10% for the week ended June 18 even as food items and manufactured products become costlier. The point-to-point inflation based on the wholesale price index (WPI) fell from the previous week's 4.33%, and from as high as 6.62% in the year-ago period.The WPI rose 0.2% to 192.9 points due to costlier primary articles and manufactured goods even as fuel prices stood unchanged. The index was at 185.3 points in the year ago period.Inflation based on the consumer price index for industrial workers (CPI-IW) had fallen by 1.22% to 3.74% in May mainly due to cheaper wheat, atta, onion, dry chillies and kerosene as per the latest official figures.The government revised upwards the inflation to 5.96% for the week ended April 23 as compared to the provisional estimate of 5.91% while WPI stood corrected at 190 points as against the provisional level of 191.90 points.
