After rising for two consecutive weeks, inflation declined marginally to 5.23% for the week ended March 12 even as prices soared for vegetables and some manufactured products.The point-to-point inflation based on the wholesale price index (WPI) fell 0.07% from 5.30% in the previous week even as fuel prices remained firm for the second consecutive week. The inflation was as low as 4.78% in the year-ago period.The WPI rose 0.1% to 189.1 points during the second week of March with indices of mass consumption primary articles and manufactured products going up. The WPI was at 179.7 points in the previous year period.The government revised upwards the inflation figure to 5.48% for the week ended January 15 as compared to the provisional level of 5.42%.
