The annual rate of inflation rose to 5.30 per cent for the week ending November 4, compared with 5.09 per cent in the previous week owing to an increase in the index of primary articles and manufactured products. The official wholesale price index for all commodities for the week ending 4 November rose by 0.2 per cent to 208.8 from 208.4 for the previous week, a commerce ministry release said. |

The wholesale price based inflation stood at 4.04 per cent during the corresponding week last year. The index of primary articles, which has weightage of 22.02 per cent in the national index rose by 0.4 per cent to 214.2 from 213.3 for the previous week. |

The index for food articles group rose by 0.5 per cent to 218.6 from 217.5 for the previous week owing to higher prices of beef and buffalo meat (10 per cent), poultry chicken (6 per cent), eggs and fish-marine (3 per cent each). |
