International leather fair in Chennai

The 21st annual edition of the India International Leather Fair (IILF) will be held in Chennai during January 31 "� February 3.

Ahmed said that IILF 2006 would start with a great optimism and be the biggest so far in the series in terms of participation from foreign countries, size and range of products on display.

IILF area, which covers a net area of 5,800 sqm, has attracted about 320 companies including 105 from 21 foreign countries. About two thirds of the fair is for the people who want to sell in India.

As more number of foreign firms were looking at India as an alternative sourcing point, the event attracted a good number of foreign visitors, he said, adding that the country obtained the capabilities to process all types of leather.

CLE has also planned a buyer-seller meet for buyers from Latin American and the CIS countries.

About 300 foreign visitors have confirmed their participation and over 9,000 trade visitors are expected to visit the fair.
