Indian Oil Corporation experts will train engineers of Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company (GNPOC), a Sudanese company, in petroleum pipeline operations.

An IOC delegation was in Sudan recently where a detailed presentation was made. "Two training programmes have been lined up in operations and maintenance for 16 and 14 months, respectively," said BK Mittal, IOC's executive director (human resources).

IOC has conducted advanced training programme for four batches of technicians and engineers of GNPOC at its pipeline installations during the last two years.

GNPOC has indicated that it will award maintenance and inspection services on nomination basis to IOC. It had also shown interest to know more about our marine terminal expertise, for which they would interact with IOC subsequently, said Mittal.

IOC has offered services for developing maintenance system activities like condition monitoring, designing different scheduled maintenance formats, developing history card and monitoring spares requirement to ensure its availability in time.

IOC said GNPOC's marine terminal and single point mooring system at Port Sudan was identical to its own crude oil terminal system at Vadinar in Gujarat.
