The Andhra Pradesh Assembly, which began its brief winter session on Tuesday, was abruptly adjourned for the day with the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) not relenting on its demand to take up the issue of irrigation tenders for discussion up front.

Assembly speaker K R Suresh Reddy could not take up the question hour as the TDP members did not heed to the suggestion made by him saying that the issue would be sorted out in the business advisory committee(BAC)meeting to be called for immediately after the question hour is over.

Making its stand on the issue clear, the government said that it wanted to discuss the issue in its entirety, including the issue of irrigation projects and not one aspect in isolation, for which the Telugu Desam Party opposed.

The situation worsened after reassembling after the tea break with the TDP members entering the speaker's podium and raising slogans against the government.

At this stage, the speaker adjourned the house for tomorrow.
