The Indian School of Business (ISB) has formed a research body to promote research among Indian and international business schools. It will also float an international innovation fund to extend scholarships to faculty engaged in research, according to ISB dean M Rammohan Rao.
Speaking on the sidelines of the ‘Emerging India: Strategic innovation in a flat world’ conference organised in collaboration with the Strategic Management Society (SMS), USA, he said the agenda for the research will be finalised in consultation with the deans of various business schools shortly.
Based on a distributive model, the research body will have a presence in multiple locations. The corporate sector including Airtel and Satyam Computer and others have expressed willingness to support the research initiative. Airtel suggested case studies of its subscriber base and its team will throw open the data available, he said.
It will evaluate and encourage research ideas, create peer review processes, build international linkages for faculty exchange for research. Research, which is not capital and labour intensive, can be taken up at multiple locations, said management guru CK Prahalad.
The three-day conference, which concluded today, attracted participation from 45 Indian and 120 international business schools across the world.
Prahalad said the Indian leadership model had the potential to be applied globally. They discussed changes in the role and function of business schools.
Additionally, the conference will create an excellent opportunity for scholars from other countries to learn about the developments and research opportunities in India.
