Information Technology and Communications secretary to the Andhra Pradesh government, K Ratna Prabha, has been designated as the adjudicating officer on cyber crimes for the state.
The appointment follows the decision by the Union government that state IT secretaries would function as the adjudicating officer for conducting field inquiries in cyber offences registered under the IT Act 2000.
Accordingly, a Gazette notification to this effect has been issued recently, according to an official press statement today.
As the adjudicating officer, the official will have the powers of the civil court with jurisdiction over the respective state, and all proceedings before her/him would be deemed to be judicial proceedings under Sections 193 and 228 of the IPC.
