J& K allots Rs 21 cr for new schools

The Jammu and Kashmir government has earmarked over Rs 21 crore for construction of 335 school buildings and 450 additional class-rooms under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in Anantnag district during the current fiscal year.
 
"Rs 10.80 crore will be spent for construction of 270 primary schools and Rs 3.90 crore for construction of 65 middle school buildings," District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, G A Peer said while addressing a meeting of zonal education officers yesterday.
 
He said Rs 6.75 crore is being spent on 450 additional class rooms in the district this year.
 
The district development commissioner asked zonal education officers to identify vacant land and submit details so that land is allotted for construction of school buildings.
