Faced with rising unemployment among the youth, the Jammu and Kashmir government today asked them to utilise incentives provided by the state to set up small-scale industrial units.

"There is a need for launching a massive awareness campaign to motivate the educated youth and to divert their attention from hankering after government jobs towards setting up of small-scale industrial units," Ahmed, divisional commissioner, Kashmir Basharat said, addressing a seminar, " Rural employment generation programme" here today.

The seminar was organised by Khadi and Village Industries Commission in collaboration with Government Polytechnic for Women.

Ahmed said the state government has already announced several incentives for setting up of SSI units, including subsidy on capital investment, on transport and installing pollution control devices for the purpose.

He asked district industries centres to launch awareness camps in rural areas particularly for women folk so that they also could earn their livelihood by working in small grameen units for which raw material is available locally.
