J&K shows improvement in imports and exports

Taxable imports have shown an increase of 33 per cent and exports 63 per cent during 2006-07 in Jammu & Kashmir.
 
Figures compiled by the J&K Commercial Taxes department have shown taxable imports to the tune of Rs 14,987.19 crore during 2006-07 against Rs 11,261.12 crore during 2005-06. Imports have increased by Rs 3,726.07 crore, which is nearly 33 per cent of 2005-06 imports.
 
Taxable imports for the Jammu division have been put at around Rs 12,843.18 crore this year against Rs 9,217.25 crore previous year. The increase in taxable imports in Jammu is Rs 3,625.93 crore.
 
The imports for the Kashmir division have registered a marginal increase of 5 per cent compared to 39 per cent of Jammu. Taxable imports of the Kashmir division were put at Rs 2,131.96 crore during this year against Rs 2,034.81 crore during previous year""a hike of just Rs 97.14 crore.
 
Taxable exports during 2006-07 were worth Rs 9,735.33 crore against Rs 5,967.34 crore during 2005-06. It is an increase of Rs 3,767.98 crore, that is 63 per cent. The imports of the industrial sector have further registered an increase of 65 per cent during the year ending March.
