The Jammu and Kashmir tourism ministry will showcase the state's tourist sites and locations. This will be through the creation of facilities for tourists along the highway stretch from Leh in the Ladakh region to Lakhanpur, the town on the state's border with Punjab. |
The state's minister for tourism, Jugal Kishore, said in a meeting with senior officials: "Up-to-date tourist facilities will be created to streamline the sector. In this regard, tourist reception centres (TRCs) will come up in Leh and Kargil, which are some of the main tourist attractions in the state, visited by a large number every year, especially foreigners." |
|
"Travel operators in all parts of the country will be registered by the tourist offices of Jammu and Kashmir, in various parts of the country. The state government has located a large number of them. They will get all cooperation from the state government in organising package tours to various destinations in Kashmir, Jammu, and Ladakh," Jugal Kishore said. |

The state tourism ministry is also contemplating the setting up of an information-cum-reservation centre at Mata Vashno Devi Bhawan in Jammu. In this regard, Jugal Kishore has asked the authorities concerned to approach the shrine board for renting premises. |
