Congress MP, YS Jaganmohan Reddy, seems to be all set on a collision course with the party high command.
In defiance of the ruling party’s diktat, the industrialist-turned-politician is busy making arrangement for his ‘Odarpu Yatra’, ostensibly to console the families of those who died of shock or committed suicide following the death of his father and former chief minister, Y S Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR), in a helicopter crash last year.
This is despite the fact that, in an open letter addressed to the people at large on Monday night, Reddy revealed that Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, was not in favour of his proposed tour for “unspecified reasons.”
Nevertheless, he said that he would go ahead with his tour as it was his “moral responsibility towards my father.”
According to Reddy, he will resume his tour, as announced earlier, from July 8, the birthday of YSR. The tour will commence from Itchapuram in the coastal district of Srikakulam, the same place where YSR’s 1,500 km ‘Padayatra’ ended in 2003.
