The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) is planning to come up with an auditorium having a capacity to accommodate about 3,000 people. This would be the first government-sponsored auditorium near the statue circle in the heart of the city. |
Proposed on a 10,000 square metre plot of the "Jaipur Udyog", the JMC is planning to give all of a different look to the auditorium as compared to others in the country. |
The proposal in this regard has been sent to the Rajasthan government for approval by the JMC last week. |
"Over the past few years, Jaipur has emerged as a favourite destination for the corporate sector for holding various national and international conferences, seminars, and other official meets. Lack of a good auditorium was damaging the city's prospects and potential. So this auditorium was the need of the hour," said Ashok Parmani, mayor of the city. |
Parmani said the new auditorium would have mechanised parking. He said it would be a multipurpose auditorium where conferences, seminars and fairs could be organised. |
Officials in the JMC said a specific partition device would be set up in the auditorium to help to divide it into 2-3 segments as per need. They said the auditorium would be well-equipped. |
Meanwhile, another international convention centre, of Rs 300 crore, is being planned to be set up near here. "This centre will be developed on a 125-acre plot, which has been identified by the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) in the Dehmikala area of Bagru, about 32 km from the city," a JDA spokesperson said. |
The Union government has given approval for this project and has sanctioned Rs 50 crore to the state government for it. The construction would be undertaken by the Rajasthan tourism department. |
