Commerce and Industry Minister Arun Jaitley today called for removal of roadblocks for establishment of special economic zones (SEZs) so that there could be a faster implementation of the schemes announced by the government three years ago.
Speaking at a meeting of the Parliamentary consultative committee attached to the commerce ministry, Jaitley said he proposed to take up the pending issues related to these zones with the finance ministry, which included operationalisation of various provisions announced in the Budget last year.
The minister said the government proposed to speed up the establishment of these projects through a Central Special Economic Zone Act, addressing infrastructure problems and pursuing pending issues with state governments concerned.
