A high-powered business delegation from Japan, which is looking at India for large foreign investment opportunities, met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today in a bid to expand Japan's presence, particularly in the infrastructure sector.The 73-member delegation led by Osamu Watanabe, CEO and chairman of Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), had a half-an-hour meeting with Singh.Senior officials of Prime Minister's Office and industrial policy and promotion were also present during the meeting.Japan has already financed the first phase of the Delhi's metro project and would be funding the second phase as well. It has also agreed to conduct a feasibility for the ambitious Rs 22,000 crore rail freight corridor connecting Mumbai-Delhi-Kolkata.
