JD(S) leader had accused CM of ordering denotification of 1.2 acres acquired by BDA in favour of his two sons

In a fresh charge against the BJP government on land denotification issue, JD(S) today accused it of illegally denotifying 6.35 acres acquired for a residential layout formation. JD(S) state unit president H D Kumaraswamy alleged chief minister B S Yeddyurappa had ordered the denotification of 6.35 acres in Rachenahally village limits, which had been converted into a house site by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) for allotment in Arkavathy layout.

Kumaraswamy, who led the JD(S)-BJP coalition government during 2006-07, claimed fraudulent methods had been used to get the denotification order as it came on an application in the name of “farmers” sent to the chief minister’s office. He claimed that the signature of the chief minister was suspect and needed to be probed whether somebody forged it.

Kumaraswamy said his party would file an affidavit before the Lokayukta on October 4 seeking a probe into the issue and also petition governor H R Bhardwaj seeking action.

The JD(S) leader had on Wednesday accused Yeddyurappa of ordering denotification of 1.2 acres of land acquired by BDA in favour of his two sons — B Y Raghavendra and B Y Vijendra in Rachenahally area and demanded the resignation of the Yeddyurappa Ministry. He alleged that so far the government was involved in denotifying 500 acres of land and the scam ran into about Rs 5,000 crore transaction.

Kumaraswamy also produced documents in support of his claim that Raghavendra, MP, owned a site in Bangalore in 2004 itself and furnished a false affidavit recently to get allotment of a residential plot from BDA under Chief Minister’s discretionary quota.

Yeddyurappa visited leaders at the RSS office, briefed them on the developments following the arrest and sought their guidance at the meeting, party members said. The chief minister refused to answer reporters’ queries on the arrest of Katta Jagadish, son of IT-BT Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, saying he would await the outcome of the investigation into the case.

Katta Jagadish was arrested yesterday by Lokayukta for allegedly trying to influence a witness in the case pertaining to irregularities in payment of compensation to land owners by KIADB. The action came after the complainant, Ramanjanappa had tipped off Lokayukta that he was being pressured by Jagadish, a BJP corporator from Vasanthnagar ward, not to cooperate in the ongoing investigation into the issue being conducted by the anti-corruption watchdog.

Meanwhile, a Lokayukta special court remanded Jagadish to judicial custody till October 12.
