Jeera futures prices declined by Rs 118 to Rs 16,586 per quintal today on profit booking by speculators and a weak export demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery June fell by Rs 118, or 1.96%, to Rs 23,835 per quintal, with an open interest of 100 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in March lost Rs 25, or 0.11%, to Rs 22,835 per quintal, with a business volume of 5,965 lots.
Market analysts said apart from profit booking, weak export demand kept the pressure on the jeera futures prices.
However, estimates of lower output restricted the losses to some extent, they added.
