A five-member delegation led by chief minister Arjun Munsa will take part in the trade fair at Toronto in Canada organized by the Engineering Export Promotion Council.
Official source said the team consists of deputy chief minister Hemant Soren, senior bureaucrats and senior representatives from corporate houses like Tata Steel, Reliance Power, Essar, Abhijeet Group and others during participation in the four-day trade fair and business conclave beginning October 17, will showcase the state as an investment destination because of its huge mineral resources.
However, opposition parties have started adverse criticism against the visit of the official delegation led by chief minister Arjun Munda to Canada and US from October 15 to October 24 when the state had repeatedly failed in attracting foreign investment for the state in its rule during eleven years.
Besides, the leaders cited the recent comments of the Union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh who raised questions on the present government’s ability to spend central funds for development of rural and Maoist-hit areas of Jharkhand. The Union minister cited the examples of Chhattishgarh and Andhra Pradesh which had been able to spend on MGNREGA schemes around Rs 3,000 crore and Rs 12,000 crore respectively against Rs 1,500 crore by Jharkhand..
