Jharkhand government has introduced a new agriculture scheme that would help farmers grow more than one crop.
The decision to provide farmers with necessary resources to produce dual crop government was taken at the cabinet meeting last evening, official sources said today.
The scheme, +Kisan Kushali Yojana (scheme for farmers' wellbeing)+ would also help the farmers in rearing of livestock.
In the first phase of the programme, farmers of two blocks in each of the 24 districts would be benefitted from the scheme, sources said.
With a view to mitigate the problems of the farmers in Palamau, Garwah, Chatra and Latehar districts, which experienced scanty rainfall this monsoon, the state government declared them as drought-hit.
A few days ago the Chief Minister had visited Garwah and Palamau and had said the government would take all steps to help the farmers in the drought-hit districts.
The cabinet also decided not to take tax from marginal vegetable vendors selling their produce in markets.
In another decision to set up a marketing complex in the state capital the cabinet approved transfer of one acre and 19 decimal to Krishi Bazaar Samiti (agriculture market committee). The government has also approved seven posts for strict enforcement of labour laws.
