Since the imposition of President's rule in Jharkhand in June, over a dozen gazetted officers, including some from IAS cadre, were suspended on charges of corruption.
The latest one to be suspended is R K Sinha, an officer of the Indian Forest Service (IFS) posted in Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board (JSPCB) as member-secretary. The governor, MOH Farook, yesterday ordered the suspension of Sinha for his alleged acts of omission and commission.
Official sources said that a disproportionate assets case would be registered against Sinha under various sections of Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Corruption Act.
According to an official of the income tax department, Sinha's flat in the Ranchi was raided by the IT department and seized several bank accounts, LIC policies, investment documents and jewellery.
