Jharkhand police has identified the murderer of the state's special branch intelligence inspector Francis Induwar (50).
A senior official of the state police said that Jharkhand's most dreaded Naxalite Kundan Pahan (28) was responsible for the cold-blooded beheading of the police inspector. The Naxalite rebels had kidnapped police inspector Induwar on September 30 from Hembrom Bazaar in Khunt district. Official source said that the police inspector had gone there to meet an informer.
The body of the beheaded police inspector was found on October 6 from a roadside ditch on the Ranchi-Jamshedpur highway under Namkoom police station. The abduction and subsequent beheading of Jharkhand police intelligence officer Francis Inderwar have evoked strong resentment among policemen in the state.
Special Branch Police Association (SBPA) in the state capital at an emergency meeting held responsible the former Khunti district SP Jatin Narwal for the death. The association leaders have demanded suspension of Jatin Narwal, now posted in Palamu as SP for his failure in handling the case.
The policemen have been expressing their anger over killing of the inspector and also demanded proper security arrangements if the operations in Naxal strongholds. The SBPA president RS Rai said, "The officials of our department have no security of life. We are the one who gather all the information and take risks. Yet, we are not eligible for a pistol from our department."
Rai said, "We informed Narwal about Inderwar's abduction but he dismissed it saying that the officer had gone to Hembrom Market to make merry. It is a shameful allegation against a person who had been abducted while on duty."
