Jharkhand energy ministry has initiated steps to cancel a contract signed by the Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB), during the tenure of former chief minister, Babulal Marandi, for setting up 52 power sub-stations across the state to facilitate the process of rural electrification.
According to the state energy minister, Lalchand Mahato, the deal struck with Jyoti Structure of Mumbai was much higher than the normal rates.The ministry has already sought legal opinions to tackle the problems that may arise, following the move to scrap the contract.
Mahato said that, Jyoti Structure was already paid an advance of Rs 19 crore, but the firm was yet to commence work on the project.
