June exports zoom 34%, imports vault 43%

Q1 exports up 28%; imports up 31%.
 
Exports increased 34.32% to $5.67487 billion in June 2004 from $4.22487 billion in June, 2003. In rupee terms, exports totalled Rs 25,824.51 crore, which is 30.86% higher than exports in June 2003.
 
According to data released by the ministry of commerce, exports during April-June 2004-2005 increased 27.96% to $16.49806 billion from $12.89291 billion during April-June 2003-2004. In rupee terms, exports at Rs 74,139.12 crore during April-June 2004-2005 was higher by 22.21% than exports during April-June 2003-2004.
 
Imports moved up 43.02% in June 2004 to $7.94268 billion from $5.55350 billion in June 2003.
 
Imports during April-June 2004-2005 are valued at $22,434.16 billion - an increase of 30.69% over the level of imports valued at $17.166.42 billion betwen April-June 2003-2004.
 
Oil imports zoomed 44.69% between April-June 2004-05 to $6.62205 billion from imports of $4.57674 billion in the corresponding period last year.
 
Non-oil imports increased 25.60% between April-June,2004-05 to $15.81211 billion from imports valued at $12.58968 billion in the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal.
 
The trade deficit for April-June 2004-05 is estimated at $5.936.10 billion, which is higher than the deficit of $4.27351 billion during April-June 2003-04.
