Foundation for Nestle noodle plant on July 2.
The Karnataka government has set the ball rolling for fructification of MoUs signed at the recently concluded global investors’ meet (GIM), where it attracted investment proposals worth close to Rs 5 lakh crore. The implementation of these projects is commencing from the first week of July itself. The GIM concluded on June 4.
V P Baligar, principal secretary, department of industries and commerce said, the foundation stone for the first GIM approved project will be laid on July 2, 2010. The chief minister B S Yeddyurappa will be laying the foundation stone for the new Maggi noodles manufacturing plant of Nestle India Ltd at Nanjangud in Mysore district. The CMD of Nestle will be present on the occasion.
Similarly, foundation stone for special economic zone for IT industry being developed by Gopalan Enterprises India Pvt Ltd in Mysore would be laid on July 2. The third project to take shape is a textile manufacturing unit in Bijapur district, for which the chief minister will lay foundation in the third or fourth week of July.
“We have to keep the pressure and heat on our bureaucrats. Only then our departments will deliver. Every month our chief minister or the concerned ministers will kick off new projects approved at the GIM. Our district administrations have been energised to take forward the projects approved,” Baligar told members of Bangalore Chamber of Industries and Commerce (BCIC) at the 33rd annual general meeting of BCIC, here on Friday.
The state has constituted a high level committee headed by the chief minister to review the projects every three months and every month, chief secretary, S V Ranganath will review the progress. The chief minister has written letters to all the departments and district administrations to see that there shall not be even one day’s delay in implementing the MoUs signed at GIM, Baligar said.

“Every department in the state government is ready to help the investors and see that there will not be red tape any more, but there will be red carpet for investors in the state,” he added.
Baligar said the state government has identified and notified 1,000 acres land near in Tumkur district to develop a Japanese village.
He said Karnataka is already a home for a large number of Japanese companies. Bangalore happens to be the second largest city in the country to have more Japanese establishments next only to National Capital Region (NCR).
Baligar said in addition to existing Japanese firms in Bangalore, the state government has approved the investment proposals of three more firms from Japan during the recently concluded Global Investors’ Meet on June 3 and 4. They are Tokai Rubber Auto Parts, Amada Pvt Ltd and Toyota Logistics India Ltd, which will make a combined investment of over Rs 200 crore in the state.
