K'taka govt to lease out 3 sugar mills

The government has decided to lease out sugar factories at Brahmavar in Udupi district, Pandavpura and Alland, state minister for sugar, Amaregowda Patil Bayyapura told reporters in Udupi.
 
The responsibility to pay the dues of sugarcane farmers and sugar factory workers has been taken up by the government and the lease amount will be Rs 3 crore for 7 years.
 
The last date for the submission of tender is December 12. Twenty-eight months' salary of Brahmavar Sugar Factory workers is due as the factory had a loss of Rs 40 crore.
 
The Centre has been urged to provide Rs 300 crore from the Central Sugar Development Fund and the Centre has promised a development package for sugar factories.
