After making a mark with the Bangalore IT.com and Bangalore Bio, the Karnataka government is looking at holding an event focussing on the fast-emerging nanotechnology sector.

The sector is increasingly coming under the focus of a lot of venture capitalists which indicates the kind of importance this sector is beginning to show.

Anup K Pujari, Karnataka's IT Secretary said that the event is scheduled to be held in early December or January.

"We have discussed the concept with Indian Institute of Science and they have showed a keen interest in this," he said.

According to him, the event will have two components, academic, where the focus will be on education and sharing knowledge, and exhibition, where the benefits of nano technology would be showcased.

"We expect this to be an annual event like Bangalore IT.in and Bangalore Bio. Nano technology is a promising sector and it encompasses every field. It has numerous application possibilities in a number of areas, including public health," he noted.
