Karnataka allots 250 acres land to Hindustan Coca Cola in Yadgir

The company plans to set up a bottling plant at an investment of Rs 1,000 cr

The Karnataka government today announced the allotment of 250 acres land to Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages Pvt Ltd and 150 acres for setting up Railway coach factory at Yadgir industrial area in Yadgir district.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who chaired a cabinet meeting at Kalaburagi, announced that a proposal has been submitted to Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) for environmental clearance for Yadgir industrial area, which will spread over 3,232 acres. The industrial area requires 25 million litres of water per day, which will be brought from Joladgi-Gudur barrage built across river Bhima. The chief minister also instructed the water resources department to accord permission at the earliest.

Hindustan Coca Cola will be investing Rs 1,000 crore to set up its new bottling plant at Yadgir and provide jobs to 500 persons. However, the government is yet to transfer land to Hindustan Coca Cola as around 18 acres land, earmarked for the company, is in the possession of revenue department, which has to be transferred to the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB).

“A proposal to transfer the land from revenue department to KIADB is before the cabinet for approval. The cabinet is likely to take up the matter for discussion during the next week. Once the cabinet approves, the land will be transferred to KIADB, which will make way for further handover to the company,” informed sources told Business Standard.

The government also allotted 125 acres land to Mphanite Solutions for setting up a pet bottles and preforms manufacturing plant. It will invest Rs 489 crore and provide jobs to 1,160 persons. About 53 pharmaceutical companies from Andhra Pradesh have shown interest to invest in Yadgir. All developmental works will be completed on a fast track basis to promote industries at Yadgir, the chief minister said.

The ministry of railways has floated a tender for establishment of railway coach factory at Yadgir and by March 2015, the construction would commence, the chief minister's office said in a statement.

In addition to these projects, five textile units have shown interest to invest in Yadgir industrial area with a combined investment of Rs 835 crore. They are: Shahi Exports Pvt Ltd (Rs 200 crore), RSB Cottex Ltd, Ahmedabad (Rs 200 crore), Prajna Jyothi Textile Park Pvt Ltd, Assam (Rs 110 crore), ETCO Denim Pvt Ltd, Mumbai (Rs 250 crore) and Sharanik Kumar Dhoka, Saidapura in Yadgir (Rs 75 crore). The land required for these units is estimated at 255 acres.

The government of India has accorded in-principle approval to establish National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) in Chitapur taluk of Kalaburagi district. Suitable land is identified at Madbul, Mattimadu, Vaccha, Hadanur, Gundaguthi and Inganakal villages of Chitapur taluk. Preliminary estimation of Department of Industries and Commerce, indicates that around Rs 25,000 crore investment would flow into this zone. It is expected that employment opportunity to about 100,000 persons will be generated from this investment. The land is well connected with airport, rail and state highway.

Siddaramaiah instructed additional chief secretary to department of commerce and industries Ratna Prabha to take steps to appoint a nodal agency and prepare a techno-economic feasibility report for this purpose.
