The government of Karnataka in collaboration with Intel, on Friday, announced a new scheme for government officials named "gyanodaya" - a government assisted PC purchase programme. |
The government aims to encourage PC adoption among state government employees and bridge the digital divide by providing easy and affordable PC purchase options. |

Through this programme, employees can buy a home PC under simple financing options from leading technology players such as HP, PCS, HCL, Microsoft among others with multiple hardware and software options at attractive price points. A PC may be available at an EMI of as low as Rs 399 for four years. Employees have the power to choose the product and the loan options that best suits their needs. |

Speaking on the occasion, chief minister N Dharam Singh said, "This initiative will increase PC penetration and give Karnataka a competitive edge, developing higher skill levels and a better informed workforce." |

He further added that ICT is key to developing a thriving and competitive economy and computer literacy is important." |

This programme will accelerate the development of government's information society and e-governance programmes. |
