The session has been called to complete the customary formalities of newly elected MLAs taking affirmation as members of the House and an address by Governor Rameshwar Thakur to the joint sitting of both Houses in the wake of installation of the new government.
The House will devote the opening day for oath taking by members and election of Speaker on June 5. Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will seek the trust vote on June 6 in compliance with a directive by Thakur to prove majority on the floor of the House.
The direction came in the wake of BJP, which stormed to power in the state, failing to garner simple majority of 113 and cobbling up the required numbers with the help of six independents. BJP won 110 seats out of 224 in the just-concluded assembly polls. Congress bagged 80 and JDS 28.
