Karnataka State High Level Clearance Committee in its first meeting on Monday cleared projects worth Rs 13,942.21 crore for 2005-06. The projects cleared could create nearly two lakh jobs. |
The state government has identified 39 backward taluks and steps are being taken to provide infrastructure and power. In addition to this, it will provide employment training with the help of local industry bodies to attract investments. |

Announcing this at a press conference here on Tuesday, P G R Sindhia, state industries minister said that this time, in addition to Bangalore, some of the investments have been committed in tier II cities in the state. Cities and towns which will get investments are Mangalore, Mysore, Koppal, Bellary and Mandya. |

A prominent project cleared is that of Ispat Industries which is setting up an integrated steel plant with 28 lakh million tpa capacity to produce hot rolled plates, coilsheets. To be set up on 2,500 acres of land at Raichur with an investment of Rs 7,144 crore. It is expected to employ 3,000 people. |

MSPL is to establish 1.2 million tpa iron ore pellet plant, 1 million tpa speciality steel plant and 1 million tpa to be scale upto 10 million tpa of integrated steel plant in Koppal district. Investment committed is Rs 2,292 crore, to employ 1,000 people. |

Shyamaraju and Company is to set up a campus for software companies called 'Techno Park' at Kundalahalli in K R Puram, Bangalore. Investment committed is Rs 1,172.10 crore and when completed is likely to employ 97,600 people. |

Sasken Communication Technologies' software development facility is to come up on 50 acre land in Hi-tech city, Bangalore. Investment committed is Rs 810.68 crore and to employ 9,590 people. |

Kirloskar Ferrous Industries will set up an integrated steel plant with expansion facility for steel billetsloomsars of 5 lakh tpa at Halavartti village Koppal disrict. Investment committed Rs 543 crore and to employ 760 people. |

i-flex Solutions is to set up a software development facility on 50 acre of land at Hi-tech city, Sarjapur Road in Bangalore. The company plans to build 21.78 lakh sq feet of IT workplace. Investment committed is Rs 300 crore and to employ 15,000 people. |

Wipro Ltd is to build a 22 lakh sq feet of software services and BPO centre on a 50 acre land at Hi-tech city Bangalore. Investment committed is Rs 100 crore and to employ 26,440 people. |

Bharati Shipyard will set up a ship building yard on 25 acres of land at Thannirbhavi village in Mangalore district. Investment committed is Rs 95 crore and to employ 1,200 people. |

Today Hotels-Karnataka Private Limited is to set up a five star hotel comprising 200 rooms, including 10 suites and restaurant at Bangalore. Investment committed is Rs 93.10 crore and to employ 550 people. |

Rasasri Steels is to set up 3 lakh mtpa of metallurgical coke and 22.5 mw power generation plant at Asundi village in Bellary district. Investment committed is Rs 92.35 crore and to employ 140 people. |

Larsen and Tourbo is to set up a software development centre to develop medical electronics, metering and protection systems and embedded systems on 40 acres of the KIADB industrial area, Hebbal-Hootagalli at Mysore. Investment committed Rs 92.10 crore and to employ 2000 people. |

Hospet Ispat Sponge is currently running a 100 tpd sponge iron plant at Allahnagar in Koppal district. In the new project the company plans to produce 300 tpd sponge iron, 24,444 mt capacity arc furnace to manufacture MS ingot and 8 mw power generation facility at the same place. Investment committed is Rs 64.03 crore and to employ 226 people. |
