Karnavati School of Dentistry launched its postgraduate programme in Gandhinagar on Wednesday. Besides this, a clinical research centre, in collaboration with Boston University, USA, was also inaugurated.

According to a press release, the research centre will conduct studies on dental materials, implantology, periodontology, radiology, oral-systemic relationship and oral biology.

Karnavati Medical and Information Trust Chairman Vinod Mittal said, "Our aim is to conduct clinical research trials that meet the international standards and incorporate them in postgraduate and under graduate-level courses."

The research project has been made mandatory for all the students. In addition to this, it also aims to develop dental science as a specialty and provide training for the same, he said.

He added that the research institute has been specifically designed to provide state-of-art clinical research settings to conduct GCP/GLP complaint research trials related to oral health and bio-materials.

As per the release, the centre also provides comprehensive service that supports multi-disciplinary and long term clinical studies and product trials.

Some of the activities being held at the centre includes planning, implementing and conducting international clinical trials, amalgamation of research into academics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, adverse event management to study drug management and case report from development to data management.

Mittal said the institute also organises conclaves and educational tours. The centre offers an interface to substantially speed up the process of regulatory clearance of the protocol.

"We provide regulatory support for drug or biomaterial registrations and trial protocol approval in India," he added.

"Our clear understanding of India's regulatory requirements and excellent liaison with regulatory authorities facilitate swift approvals and quick implementation to provide faster access of new products to the vast Indian market," he said.
