Kejriwal taken to Bawana jail

Arvind Kejriwal who was arrested today during a protest demanding the arrest of Law Minister Salman Khurshid has been sent to a jail in Bawana on the outskirts of Delhi.

Am being taken to Bawana jail, the activist tweeted a short while ago. The other two detained activists, Gopal Rai and Manish Sisodia are also being sent to two other separate jails, associate Kumar Vishwas told this paper.

Associate Yogendra Yadav said that the Government's intent may be to harass the activists rather than to silence them by taking them to far away jails like Bawana. I dont think they will be detained for long, he said.

The activists had been arrested today afternoon when they gathered near Rajpath for a march towards 7 Racecourse Road the residence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking the arrest of Law Ministe rSalman Khurshid and his wife for alleged irregularities in the use of Goverment assistance received by their NGO.

Salman Khurshid's wife Loius Khurshid has denied any wrong doing and has said that she has asked the Uttar Pradesh Government to find out why approvals for grants from some districts were found to be forged. In a tweet on his way to jail, Kejriwal said: ''Salman khurshid and his wife shud be inside jail. They are outside. The disabled, whose money he stole, are in jail. That's indian democracy ...''

Kejriwal has said that the State Government had itself provided evidence that in 10 out of 17 districts where the NGO Zakir Hussain Trust was supposed to have conducted charity camps for disabled persons, no camps were held. The signaturesof district officials on  papers that showed that camps were held were all forged. In some cases state and district officials have denied the existence of the people to whom signatures wre attributed or the designations that were assigned to them.
