Kerala Cabinet gives nod for Rs 14,010 cr Plan outlay

The Kerala cabinet on Wednesday approved the Plan outlay of Rs.14,010 crore for 2012-13 proposed by the state planning board.

Agriculture is the thrust area during the next plan period, chief minister Oommen Chandy told reporters after a Cabinet meeting here. There is an increase of 25 per cent in the Plan outlay for the period from the current fiscal, he said.

The Cabinet has decided to constitute a special purpose vehicle for getting sanction and implementing projects sponsored by the Centre under the National Manufacturing Policy. It has been decided to set up a special agency under state PWD to carry out the road development works of 1,000 km as proposed in this year's state Budget. An amount of Rs 200 crore had been earmarked for road development in the Budget.

The government has decided to increase its guarantee for the State Agriculture Grammeen Development Bank to Rs 500 crore. Corporate houses with experience and reputation in running educational institutions would be given NoC to start law colleges in the state.
