The Kerala Tourism plans to attract more tourists during the monsoon season. Last year, the state attracted 800,000 foreign tourists and 10 million domestic. The average growth in overseas tourists inflow is 15-20 per cent whereas for domestic tourists this is at 30 per cent.

To attract more tourists, the department plans to combine travel and ayurvedic treatment as the USP during the period. The package is already drawing an increasing number of tourists mostly from Germany, Britain, Russia and France. The monsoon season begins in June and ends in September.

This time, the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) is organising road shows to create awareness of its age-halt ayurveda treatment. "Our age-halt programme, launched last year, has sparked huge interest among the tourists both in India and abroad. It is a unique product that combines ayurvedic treatment and travel," said KTDC managing director  N Prashant.
